Egal Regal is a prototype of a "shelf-like" building, with a flexible structure that accommodates various uses within a general framework of 7.50*7.50 meters. The project consists of four floors erected above a train depot for Vienna metro line U1 in Oberlaa, 10th district. The CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) structure of the standard floors is supported by a first floor made of metal trusses, resting on concrete columns distributed on either side of the depot. The building is divided into a section with a post-and-beam structure and removable single-height floors, and a second section without columns, thanks to a double-height portal frame that can accommodate mezzanine levels. These two sections are connected by an adaptable pedestrian ramp that leads to the rooftop, which features lightweight structures.
